Coconut’s Analysis

The second in a two piece collection of pigs, a large, cylindrical pig sits at the center of a bubblegum pink canvas. Reminiscent of a hot dog, the arch of the chin folds perfectly into the nose, creating a feeling of depth. The character is facing ¾ view towards the left, which matches with the second canvas, which faces towards the right.

The ears are the anchor piece for this canvas, draping out like wings, the use of line-variation to anchor them towards the bottom, adds a feeling of weight.

Using only two colours, bubble gum pink and rose pink, allows for the jet-black of the linework to pop significantly on the canvas.

Artist Statement

We once did a farming show in Regina, Saskatchewan and designed a large series of animals native to Saskatchewan farms, to showcase to the farming clientele. Unfortunately, we couldn’t really compete with the tractors, but the farming series was very popular outside of the farm show, so it wasn’t a complete loss. Plus Rawry loves animals, like, a lot. However, this was a very valuable learning experience for us about making sure to be at the right kind of market.

Originally, we named this pig Chris P. Bacon after a pig with the same name that got loose and ran around Regina, but when everyone ran up to the canvas squealing happily “Waddles!” We decided to change the name.
